Even though the Great Lakes are seemingly
abundant, they are actually a very fragile ecosystem, and
susceptible to many different threats. This vital resource
is in danger of being destroyed by the loss of fish and wildlife
habitat, toxic pollution, invasive species introductions,
and increasing sewer overflows.
Audubon New York is committed to restoring
this amazing resource by implementing the Great Lakes Regional
Collaboration Strategy. This comprehensive plan provides the
necessary direction to address the major threats to the Lakes,
and restore the health of this irreplaceable wonder.
The Threats and Solutions
• Invasive Species
• Protecting Water Quality
• Cleaning up Polluted Harbors and Sediments
