As the summer days march on, and we continue stewarding and monitoring priority habitats to ensure at-risk nesting species can safely continue caring for their young chicks, our team would like to pause and thank you for your continued support of our mission and work. As you know, we were challenged to raise $10,000 in the month of June and thanks to a tremendous response, we met and even surpassed that goal. Without your donations, our work would not be possible. We are honored that you partner with us to achieve environmental conservation for the benefit of birds, people and communities across the state. Thank you.
We would also like to share a funding opportunity that is currently available to NY private forest owners and land managers for implementing practices that restore young forest habitat. Restoring this habitat is a critical component of our Healthy Forest program and we encourage anyone who may qualify and be interested in learning more to visit our website for information. Applications for funding are due July 21st.

SPECIES SPOTLIGHT | PIPING PLOVER
Our ultimate goal when stewarding coastal habitat for the benefit of the birds that nest and rest there, is to increase their population. The federally threatened Piping Plover is one of the species that we focus our efforts on, and it’s rewarding to watch them successfully breed and raise their young. Recently, one of our shorebird technicians on Long Island captured an exciting piece of footage – a 23 day old Piping Plover chick preparing for flight! View below:
