Winter Sowing with Joy
Saturday, February 08, 2025
11:00am - 12:30pm Eastern Oyster Bay, New York
Location Details
134 Cove Rd, Oyster Bay, 11771, NY
Joy Cirigliano, our Senior Coordinator of Bird-Friendly Communities will discuss our local native plants’ “seedy needs”, how to collect and clean seeds, and some important considerations when sowing native seeds. She will also demonstrate different ways to winter-sow native seeds, and possible “mini-greehhouses” that can be used to sow seeds in and then leave out over the winter, for nature to germinate. If you plan on creating your own “winter greenhouse,” please bring a translucent milk carton that light can shine through, or a clear plastic produce clamshell with a lid. We will provide seeds and soil.
