Partnering to Restore the Great Lakes

New York chapters awarded grants to help advance Audubon's Great Lakes Initiative

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation recently awarded National Audubon Society and two Audubon chapters $593,000 to launch phase two of priority coastal wetland restoration across the Great Lakes region.

This project will bring coastal sites in Rochester, New York, and Grand Haven, Michigan, into Audubon’s Great Lakes Initiative, joining significant restoration work already underway in Buffalo, New York, and the Calumet Region of Illinois and Indiana. The state/regional offices of Audubon New York and Audubon Great Lakes worked collaboratively with Audubon’s network and science teams to develop this proposal with Buffalo Audubon Society and Genesee Valley Audubon Society. Both of these chapters have also been awarded Audubon in Action grants to build community science and stewardship programs around these critical Great Lakes coastal wetlands.

Stay tuned for more updates on our Great Lakes work.
