Audubon New York submitted formal comments to the US Coast Guard (USCG) on the USCG Proposed Rule: Anchorage Grounds, Hudson River; Yonkers, NY to Kingston, NY. Citing concerns about potentially irreparable damage to critical habitat in and along the Hudson River, including six significant Hudson River shoreline habitats that have been identified as Important Bird Areas. IBA areas include the shoreline of the Lower Hudson for recovering populations of breeding and overwintering Bald Eagles, and multiple tidal wetlands that must be protected from disruptions associated with anchorages and potential oil spills.
